ExifPro Change Log
Version 1.0.1 (July 19-th, 2008)
- NEW: User-defined columns in detailed mode. To allow more image analysis right within ExifPro, power users can define new columns. With simple scripting language one can create expressions using image attributes that are evaluated and displayed just like regular columns in a detailed view mode.
- FIX: Disappearing balloon tooltips (in MS Vista) have been fixed.
- FIX: Improved folder scanning speed due to faster cache updates.
- Internal refactoring and cleanup.
- FIX: Fixed memory leak in status bar refresh.
- NEW: Set current image as a wallpaper option added to contex menus. If photograph is larger than a desktop area, it will be rescaled and cropped to cover entire screen.
- NEW: JPEG extract tool can now work with older Canon raw files (CRW files).
- FIX: Resizing tool dialog cosmetic fixes.
- FIX: Handling shortcut files (links) to folders was broken; they didn't work at all in Vista, and were crippled in XP.
- FIX: Double-click auto resizing of the first column was off by a few pixels.
Build numbers were relegated to where they belong, and proper version numbers are now used to denote new releases. Thus ExifPro 1.0.1.
Build 201 (June 1-th, 2008)
- FIX: Camera-specific and GPS column names in detailed mode were shifted by one.
Build 200 (May 27-th, 2008)
- NEW: Tool to extract JPEG images embedded in raw photographs. Currently it supports NEF, CR2, ORF, and PEF raw files.
- NEW: Time adjustment tool works with accuracy of seconds now.
- NEW: Detailed mode column with image rating (stars) to allow sorting images by stars.
- NEW: Right-click on a folder has option to open this folder in Windows' Explorer.
- Image cropping constrains include wide screen in 16:10 format (like 1920x1200).
- NEW: ExifPro can now read metadata embedded inside Nikon NEF files.
- FIX: NEF D100 photos modified in Nikon's Capture FX are displayed properly.
- FIX: Thumbnails of rotated NEF files are no longer stretched in the viewer's preview bar.
Build 199 (January 20-th, 2008)
Previous release was compiled with SSE-enabled libraries, and that causes crashes on older machines. New build fixes this bug by reverting to the original libraries.
Build 197 (January 17-th, 2008)
New compiler introduced some problems that have been fixed in this release. Setup in MS Vista in particular should work properly now.
Build 196 (January 14-th, 2008)
- NEW: Resize tool remembers recently used destination paths.
- NEW: Time line filtering by date is easier to use now. Clicking on a single day highlights it, instead of drilling down.
- NEW: Reworked appearance settings to simplify customizing UI. Pane title colors may now be customized too.
- NEW: Support for Sony DSLR raw AWR files (A100, A700).
- NEW: Funnel icon in a status bar indicates that image filtering is active.
- NEW: Printing thumbnails can either use file name, or date/time as a label, or no label at all.
- NEW: File rename is now accessible directly from the viewer window (context menu).
- NEW: List of recent folders in a file copy/move tool has been extended to include favorite folders too. Folders with the same names are now displayed using whole path. Tool tips have been added to show an absolute path for each folder there and reveal its location.
- FIX: Print thumbnails tool remembers selected font.
- FIX: Print tools remember selected printer. If you use dedicated photo printer that differs from the default one, it should be remembered properly once chosen.
- NEW: Filtering by text tries to find a match using all file info fields (metadata).
- FIX: Images shot in AdobeRGB color space use proper default color profile when image color correction is turned on.
This release was created using upgraded compiler version. If you encounter some new problems that I haven't caught in testing please let me know.
Build 195 (November 11-th, 2007)
- NEW: Drag & drop can be used in a viewer window between preview bar, view panes, and a light table.
- FIX: Transfer images tool sorts files by name before copying them to make sure renaming with consecutive numbers works reliably.
- NEW: Filtering takes file name and path into account, so now it is possible to filter images by file names too.
- FIX: Grid pane layout in a viewer window is properly remembered when toggling between single pane and four panes.
- NEW: Images in the preview bar show a pane indicator number. This feature is active if there's more than one view pane in a viewer window open. If light table is visible, preview bar will show little indicator for items placed on the light table.
- FIX: Clicking on a time line does not allow selecting empty date ranges (that is filtering that would result in no images shown).
Build 194 (October 6-th, 2007)
- NEW: Image sorting now allows using secondary sorting key. That is, it is possible to first sort by one attribute
(say an exposure time) and then by a second attribute (date and time for instance).
Currently it is only possible to select this secondary sorting criterion from the detailed view, by Shift-clicking on the
column. Sorting by any other column will cancel secondary key.

Shift-clicking the same column will reverse sorting order.
- NEW: Added support for raw ORF photos taken with Olympus E-510.
Build 193 (September 2, 2007)
- NEW: Thumbnail decoding is now performed in a separate thread to keep UI more responsive. Certain images that take a long time to decode (GIF, TIFF, PSD) were slowing repainting considerably; new build solves this long standing problem. To hide decoding delay ExifPro is also loading thumbnails speculatively ahead of time.
As a side effect image placeholders will now show up shortly before real images replace them.
- NEW: Images can be dragged into a particular folder in a folder pane to move them (or copy with a Ctrl key). This is a supplement to Copy and Move tools making image organizing easier:

- FIX: Updated TIFF decoding library now supports TIFF images that use ZIP compression internally.
- FIX: Smooth scrolling in a viewer thumbnail list should work properly now.
Build 192 (April 15, 2007)
- FIX: Images resized to fit the screen (best fit) are no longer cut off when monitor aspect ratio is corrected (say for a 16:9 Plasma TV fed with 1024x768 computer signal).
- NEW: Image loading problems are logged and available for review. If any errors are encountered exclamation icon will be displayed in a status bar. Clicking on the icon will reveal more details.
- FIX: Viewer window hides mouse cursor only when it is active (cursor should no longer disappear in the main application window when viewer is open, but inactive).
Build 191 (March 31, 2007)
Fix for a date/time tool showing "Incorrect Parameter" message at start-up.
Build 190 (March 25, 2007)
- NEW: Tool to adjust creation date and time of photographs. Relative corrections can now easily be applied to selected photos. This tool modifies EXIF data embedded in images and file time stamp.
- NEW: Info bar in a viewer window can be configured not to show field names leaving more space for user selected EXIF data (right-click on a bar to open its popup menu).
- NEW: Copy/Move/Delete take into account files associated with photographs (like *.XMP metadata, and *.THM thumbnail preview).
- NEW: Visibility of a tool bar in a viewer window is now remembered across sessions.
- NEW: Current folder is available in the list of shortcuts to folders in the Move & Copy tools; it can be used as a starting point in directory navigation.
- Note: Starting from this release ExifPro is built using new compiler and updated standard libraries.
Build 188 (February 11, 2007)
- NEW: Up to for image panes are now supported in a viewer window. They can be oriented in vertical, horizontal, or grid layout. Tab key or Alt+digit may be used to activate any pane.

- FIX: Export tool uses UTF-8 encoding to support foreign characters, like Cyrillic for instance. It used to cut of the string when such characters were encountered.
- Cosmetic changes in the Transfer tool to make renaming function less confusing.
- NEW: Assign stars to image in a viewer using keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+digit).
- FIX: Stars (image rating) now show up in a viewer window (in a preview bar) along with tags.
- View panes synchronize panning by default, but if it is not desired, try scrolling around with a Control key pressed down. Remaining panes will not follow.
- FIX: A little bit of a leeway (eight pixels) was added such that restored window location will not be forced to the point (0, 0) when upper left corner of a window is off-screen.
Build 187 (January 21, 2007)
- FIX: EXIF block wasn't copied into resized photos in HTML album tool.
- FIX: XMP metadata in JPEG files wasn't always recognized.
- FIX: JPG extension is now used when saving modified raw images in Adjust Image tool.
- NEW: New option was added in advanced settings to prevent ExifPro from closing when it was started in a viewer mode with path to a single image.
Build 186 (October 15, 2006)
- FIX: Raw files resized by HTML tool or batch mode image adjustment tool were written as JPGs, but retained original file extension (like NEF).
- FIX: ExifPro has a rudimentary support for opening single files. In other words it can be used as an image viewer when associated with such extensions as JPG, TIF, PNG, and others that it understands.
- NEW: Improved sorting by names. Images with numbers in their file names are ordered by numbers rather than strictly alphabetically. For instance 2.jpg comes before 10.jpg even though string “2” is greater than “10”.
- FIX: XMP metadata was missing language specification in some items (like description, copyright notice, right usage); consequently Photoshop didn't show those items in it's File Info.
ExifPro can display an image when file is dropped into ExifPro's icon. That means it can be associated with some file extensions. This feature is still very basic at best, as ExifPro wasn't designed to be a generic image viewer. However some users expressed desire to use it as a dedicated image viewer.
Build 185 (October 1, 2006)
- FIX: File rename using date and time was off by several hours.
- FIX: Smooth scrolling off setting is properly remembered across sessions.
- FIX: Decoding GPS info now works in NEF files too.
- NEW: Support for Pentax raw files (PEF).
- NEW: Image crop tool remembers selected aspect ratio constraint across sessions.
- NEW: Image crop tool has a new aspect ratio constraint: that of the current image.
Build 184 (September 24, 2006)
This is release candidate version of ExifPro. It includes reworked file info tool among other changes. If you use this version please make sure you have backup copies of your images. I have tested file info, tagging, rating and image description functionality, but there still may be some bugs. If you encounter any problems please let me know about them. Thank you.
- NEW: Reworked file information tool. It supports JPEG images as well as photos in raw formats (Nikon NEF, Canon CRW, CR2, Fuji RAF, Olympus ORF). File information (metadata) is now stored in the XML-based XMP format
- NEW: Tagging is now available in context menus in the main and viewer windows.
- NEW: To complement tagging image rating has been introduced. Images can be rated (from 1 to 5 stars) using context menu of file info window. Image rating is stored in the file info metadata.
- NEW: File rename function is now supported directly by ExifPro; right click in the main window to select Rename File (Shift+Ctrl+N).
- NEW: Text labels under images in the main window can be customized.
- NEW: Option to preserve file info (IPTC) when resizing images.
- FIX: Resizing rotated raw photographs created images in landscape format rather than portrait (NEF in particular was effected).
- FIX: Resizing photographs that were physically rotated with EXIF block still reporting portrait orientation lead to yet another erroneous image rotation.
- FIX: Resizing dialog doesn't confuse width and height labels when resizing portrait images.
- FIX: No crash when reading JPEG embedded color profile written in violation of JPEG specs (reportedly Corel Photo Paint 11 does it). Color profile is skipped.
- FIX: Browse button in HTML tool dialog was not functional.
- NEW: Slide show generator has a new option to loop images repeatedly.
- FIX: File name sorting order is now case insensitive (just like in the Windows Explorer).
- FIX: File names in the detailed mode are now left aligned (not shifted depending on the tiny thumbnail size).
- FIX: Renaming function in the transfer tool had broken %n (consecutive numbers) renaming flag.
- NEW: Viewer window UI brightness can be adjusted (Options/Appearance/Viewer Window/Preview Bar).
- NEW: ISO speed is read from camera settings when actual ISO speed is missing (Canon S3, Ixus).
- NEW: Cursor keys in a viewer window will now either scroll image (if it doesn't fit) or navigate to the next/previous photo.
- FIX: Light table didn't preserve its content if image's file path contained Unicode characters.
- FIX: Second view pane in a viewer window not having zoom in sync with the first one.
- FIX: Rotate operation should not change file's time stamp.
- NEW: Tab key in a viewer window switches active view pane if multiple views are on.
- FIX: Copy and Move tools remember selected destination folder independently.
- NEW: Font selection in the thumbnail printouts is possible.
- NEW: Dragging and dropping image file into ExifPro opens viewer window showing selected image.
- FIX: Handle overflowing tags; draw ellipsis indicating more tags applied to image than can be displayed.
- FIX: Sorting raw images by similarity didn't work.
- NEW: Basic support for BMP format (reading Windows bitmaps).
- NEW: Crash logging into a text file to facilitate reporting and fixing fatal errors (look for an ExifPro.exe-crash.txt file in ExifPro's folder).
- FIX: Opening countdown dialog had a tendency to hang some systems due to drawing problems.
- FIX: Drag & Drop for a large amounts of images could fail with a fatal error message.
Next in the works will be caching for raw images. Today it works for JPEG photos only, and raw images need this speed improvement too.
Build 183 (March 28, 2006)
Cataloging Tool debuts in this build.
- NEW: Tool to catalog images: designated folder (or drive) is scanned and previews of all found images are stored in a file. This database-like file can be opened in ExifPro even in absence of original images. It will still show you previews and EXIF information.
If you archive images on a CD or DVD and remove them from your hard drive afterwards, you may find this cataloging utility handy.
- NEW: Basic support for Fuji raw files (RAF). Embedded preview image is decoded along with EXIF information. Raw file parameters (dimensions in particular) are not decoded. This feature was only tested using photos taken with FinePix S2 Pro.
- NEW: Added support for Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) files.
- NEW: Transfer tool renaming pattern flag %n extended to accept starting number (in the form %n{digits, start}).
- FIX: Copy/Move tools no longer complain about invalid recently used folder and defaults to some valid path.
- FIX: Recent paths in Copy/Move tools are properly stored and restored.
- FIX: Row heights in detailed view are the same regardless of image orientation.
- FIX: EXIF information is recognized again when reading images from a CD (clearing cache file may be needed: Advanced Settings, Image Cache File, ‘Clear’ button).
- FIX: Incorrect color profile shouldn't crash ExifPro.
- FIX: Small file sizes were not reported accurately (in info pane and detailed view).
- FIX: Nikon D200 NEF files have orientation info recognized now, allowing for automatic rotation of photographs in portrait mode.
- FIX: Tags in a viewer window can be assigned using numerical keyboard too now.
- FIX: Transfer tool rename function uses local file time now instead of UTC.
- ... plus other small fixes.
- Drag & drop in ExifPro accepts dropped files and folders.
- Due to the technical reasons executable files are no longer internally packed. That means that size of ExifPro grew substantially, although its functionality should remain intact.
I'm very interested in a feedback regarding cataloging tool. For the first time ExifPro produces some kind of a document of nontrivial structure that will have to be supported by future program releases regardless of possible format changes and fixes. The sooner I discover bugs and limitations the better. This tool itself was essentially completed over a month ago, but it took considerable time to build support for it in ExifPro and iron out bugs. Still, I expect many of them to lurk in the code, so please report problems.
Build 181 (January 29, 2006)
- NEW: Decoding Panasonic MakerNote (more information in the Info pane for photos taken with Panasonic cameras).
- FIX: Inaccurate color decoding in MMX JPEG library has been fixed.
- FIX: EXIF Image Description was cut off when read by ExifPro if it contained spaces.
- FIX: MaxApertureValue in the Info Pane had correct value, but incorrect FNumber equivalent.
Build 179 (January 16, 2006)
- FIX: New MMX JPEG library could cause a crash with images having odd width. It's been fixed now.
Build 178 (January 15, 2006)
- NEW: Editing description and file info (IPTC) now can apply changes to all selected files. One can select multiple images to change and then use editing tool. Modified description and/or file info will be written to all selected images.
- Transfer tool fixes and small improvements (renaming symbol %f expects position from 1 to N, symbol %n accepts optional number of digits in curly brackets, pressing F5 refreshes file views).
- NEW: Basic support for JPEG files in CMYK mode.
- NEW: JPEG library has been updated to use MMX instructions resulting in faster decoding of big images.
- FIX: Occasional file sharing violation while browsing images in the viewer window should be eliminated now.
- FIX: When manually advancing in the slide show mode, delay timer is reset so the new image is displayed for the proper duration of time.
- Small fixes: time line is refreshed after deleting image(s); FileInfo editing updates tags; preview pane refreshes after editing description and file info; modifying file info updates date/time stamp of image file.
Build 175 (January 3, 2006)
- NEW: To simplify e-mailing photographs new simple tool has been introduced: Send E-Mail.
- NEW: Transfer tool has been re-worked and improved. One feature that I'd like to highlight is its ability to mark files being copied, which allows detecting new files on the removable medium. Please refer to the help pages for complete description of the new Transfer tool window.
It still requires bunch of important changes to be really useful, and this is just first step in this direction...
- NEW: Rename function in Transfer tool may use part of the original file name to construct a new name.
- NEW: Time line maintains history of selected time periods (back and forward buttons) and features more conspicuous
cancel button.
- NEW: When printing thumbnails footer text may now be customized.
- NEW: Print dialog window may show page and image sizes either in inches or centimeters, regardless of the system settings.
- NEW: Crop tool supports fixed size ratios to simplify cropping images for standard size prints.
- NEW: Folder pane allows creation of new folders.
- NEW: Preview pane description text may be hidden via context menu.
- NEW: Tools that need selected images to work are now properly grayed out in the main menu and a task view, to indicate that selection is not available.
- NEW: Light table has an option to physically delete all images except those in the light table (‘Delete All Remaining Images’).
- NEW: Image adjustment tool help file improvement to highlight a batch file mode of operation (processing of multiple images).
- FIX: When the recently used favorite folder is removed ExifPro defaults to the ‘My Computer’ instead
of exiting during start-up.
- FIX: ImageDescription EXIF data is now used if present as an image description available for editing in ExifPro.
- FIX: MakerNote field was not decoded in CR2 (Canon raw) files.
- FIX: When images with tags not present in the tag pane were selected those missing tags were added and repeated
in the pane instead of just being added once.
- FIX: When applying a tag in the main window by pressing numerical key image in the preview pane no logger disappears.
- FIX: After deleting current image preview pane is redrawn properly with a new image.
- FIX: Uninstaller deletes now all ExifPro registry keys.
- FIX: Magnifier window didn't close on page up/down showing old image.
Build 174 (November 20, 2005)
- NEW: DNG (Digital Negative) support; as with other ‘raw’ formats, ExifPro relies on the preview
image embedded inside DNG file to present the photo. Please also note that EXIF block stored inside DNG file is usually
just a fraction of original information available in the native photograph.
- NEW: 16-bit RGB TIFF files are now decoded and displayed.
- NEW: Info pane supports quick filtering to facilitate locating any tags of interest, as well as filtering out unknown tags:

- NEW: light table supports tagging of all images on the table at once:

- NEW: Magnifier window displays RGB values of a pixel at the center; this feature allows examining spots with clipped
(saturated) colors for instance.
- NEW: Decoding of ISO speed for many Pentax cameras.
- NEW: Option to empty light table.
- NEW: Added EXIF info extraction from TIFF files.
- FIX: Speed of updating main image pane window; in particular cancelled filtering now restores original view about
two orders of magnitude faster than original code did (this fix is important for larger collections, above 1000 images).
- FIX: Color management profile selection should not be aborted when corrupted profile file is found.
- FIX: Uninstaller was failing occasionally in Win XP.
Build 173 (October 23, 2005)
One of the most frequently requested features was the one to add a list of recently used folders. This feature is now
available in the folder pane. Another request: go to the parent folder, thus a new button in the folder pane.
Some users also wanted to be able to compare two images side by side. This can be accomplished in a viewer
window thanks to the multiple panes feature (split view).
- NEW: Folder pane now contains a list of recently used folders for quick access, as well as an ability
to go to the parent folder:

- NEW: Viewer window may display two images side by side for comparison;
vertical and horizontal layout is supported.
- FIX: Large toolbars were not properly remembered in same pane windows upon application restart.
- FIX: Deleting images could confuse preview bar in the viewer window distorting their sizes.
Build 172 (September 12, 2005)
This release took longer to prepare due to the amount of changes and necessary testing.
Several users complained about viewer window looking rather distracting with its light toolbar and preview bar.
I started drafting new design projects in April, but only fairly recently I have finally arrived at something that was satisfactory.
Here is one example window and here is another
one. Implementation of necessary control windows took additional days, so did bug fixing.
With new viewer window fairly stable I plan to turn my attention to fixing bugs and implementing features requested
by ExifPro's users. The backlog of features on my "to do" list is growing.
Here's a list of changes in the new build:
- NEW: Viewer window was overhauled. A face-lift includes better blending of toolbar, preview bar and a light table with
usually dark display area.
- NEW: Preview bar stripe in the viewer window may be oriented either horizontally or vertically.
- NEW: Optional smooth scrolling in the preview bar.
- NEW: Both preview bar and light table handle landscape and portrait images properly to preserve their relative size
(this is portrait images show up no smaller than landscape ones).
- NEW: Preview bar may have overlayed tags turned on and off.
- NEW: Preview bar balloon tool tips show all assigned tags in addition to other information.
- NEW: Going to the next/previous image in a description dialog window changes preview pane image too.
- NEW: Viewer window uses extra mouse buttons (browser back and forward) to go to the previous/next image.
- NEW: Hyperlinks to the previous and next image in generated HTML album pages.
- NEW: Option to open image from a viewer window in an external application.
- NEW: Changing images in a viewer window modifies selection in the main window instead of just moving current image.
- NEW: Rotation (permanent and temporary) should be more consistent now; rotating images temporarily in a viewer
window results in thumbnails properly oriented in all windows; permanent rotation takes temporary rotation into
account too.
- FIX: Window resizing handle was placed at the wrong spot in the image adjustment window when multiple
images were selected.
- FIX: CRW files with accompanying THM files had wrong dimensions reported.
- FIX: Copy window invoked form light table stays on top of viewer window.
- FIX: All dialog windows use OpenType font to allow ClearType (if enabled) to anti-alias character edges.
- FIX: For certain images displayed at 100% zoom low resolution copy was incorrectly presented (manifesting
itself as a pixelated jagged image).
- FIX: Preventing multiple instances of ExifPro from running (due to the shared cache database).
- FIX: Viewer window was loosing nonpermanent image rotation state.
- FIX: Rotated images could have thumbnails oriented improperly when cache file was regenerated.
- FIX: Thumbnails generated from portrait mode images were kept in a too low resolution.
- FIX: PNG reader was leaking file handle which caused problems reading multiple images.
- FIX: Some gray scale images in Win2k might have been displayed skewed and distorted.
- FIX: Balloon info in the main window was failing in Win2k.
And a multitude of other small fixes.
Build 169 (August 7, 2005)
- FileInfo after editing was properly saved, but changes were not reflected upon re-entering
FileInfo dialog window; fixed.
- FileInfo high ASCII characters were lost; fixed now.
- Fixed a bug where histogram pane was displaying very coarse histograms while image pane was in the detailed mode.
- Hidden tool: thumbnail rotation fixer. After selecting multiple images one can open ‘Rotation Tool’
and with Alt, Control and Shift pressed down click on the ‘Fix’ button. After fixing images need to be
reloaded. This feature is only meant to instruct ExifPro how to rotate embedded thumbnail image in relation to
the main image.
- Luminosity histogram was shrunk by one value which was misleading; proper scaling is used now.
- Improved time line bar (with resolution increased to days).
- Filtering by date in the time line bar:

Click and drag in the time line bar to select time range; images will
be filtered when mouse button is released; to cancel filtering press Esc key or press filter cancel button.
Time line bar is toggled here: View/Image Pane Options/Show Time Line.
- Preliminary support for Olympus raw files; it has only been tested with Olympus E-300 raws and uses embedded
big JPEG preview image (quarter of the size of a real image) for display.
Build 165 (July 25, 2005)
- Decoding support for YCbCr TIFF files (Fuji MX-2900 uses this format for raw images).
- InfoPane didn't show EXIF data for NEF & CR2 files; fixed now.
- Copy EXIF to clipboard fixed.
- Export EXIF tool may now optionally export tags too.
- Viewer window may use scrollbars (if requested from the menu). Customized scrollbars are used to provide
less distractive appearance and blend with the (usually) black viewer window.
- Preview pane has been equipped with scrollbars too.
- Main image window may group images by tags. It used to group images with multiple tags into single
group. This group called ‘Multiple Tags’ is now split into several groups.
Note: this feature is still in its infancy—order of tag groups may change when images are sorted after loading.
- Copy and Move tools are sporting new folder selection window
along with a list of drives and recently used paths for quick access.
- Color correction problem fixed where bright red or green pixels showed up in very dark/bright areas.
- A fix to remove zip files from the list of folders in WinXP causes Win2k not to show any directories;
this change has been undone.
Build 164 (July 17, 2005)
- Fixed serious problems with tagging; comment field (COM) if present in JPEG file used to confuse tag
writing routine resulting in tags inserted in the wrong spot.
- Fixed resizing problem when using relative sizes (again).
- A few small fixes in the viewer window.
- Size grip in maximized tool windows is disabled now (it wasn't working properly).
- Zip files are no longer listed in the tree view.
Build 163 (June 25, 2005)
- Reduced memory requirements per image. ExifPro offers now two modes of operation selectable
in Advanced Settings window. In the standard one (decoding speed) loaded images occupy about half of
a space they used to while in the memory preserving mode images need only a tenth of this space.
Please have a look at the Optimize Thumbnail Access for more info.
ExifPro shall now be able to handle bigger collection of images.
- Cache file may grow beyond 2 GB now (up to 4 GB); due to a bug it was limited to 2 GB.
- Generated slide show application no longer depends on any external DLLs.
- Preventing multiple ExifPro instances from running concurrently due to the shared image cache file.
- Resized images with preserved EXIF block show correct size information.
- Resizing images using relative size (percentage) was broken, it works now.
- Casio MakerNote acquired limited decoding.
- Viewer keys for zooming in and out, best fit, actual size & previous photo got alternative shortcuts:
'+', '-', '/', '*' & backspace. This is especially important for laptop users without numeric keypad.
- Viewer's 'best fit' may magnify small images beyond 100% by default; this behavior can be changed now. In
Advanced Settings window there's a new option controlling how 'best fit' zoom operates.
- Image Description window is now resizable.
- When image description dialog is opened from within viewer window, pressing next/previous in the
description dialog will also change underlaying image.
- Toggle full screen in the context menu of viewer window is enabled now.
- Filtering images is no longer case sensitive; it accepts also partial matches.
- Fixed selecting of unusually skinny images.
Build 162 (May 9, 2005)
- loss-less JPEG cropping is functional now
- image color correction fix to get rid of occasional red dots in corrected image
- protection against bogus EXIF block in scanned images; broken EXIF is rejected, but image is still displayed
- removed experimental Sony's MakerNote decoding to avoid problems with some photographs (like Sony's V1)
- improved reading of cached images to avoid problems with broken EXIF blocks
- decreased refresh rate of a splash screen to improve responsiveness on slower machines
- added new type in the transfer tool batch rename function: consecutive numbers
- saving tags definition file appends proper Unicode signature (Win 2k/XP) to allow easy editing in Notepad
Build 158 (March 29, 2005)
- display of images at 100% zoom in the preview pane was showing reduced resolution images
- cached Canon 20D photo in AdobeRGB1998 couldn't be reloaded; fixed now (thanks to Ken)
- zoom slider in the preview pane was broken
Build 157 (March 27, 2005)
- preliminary support for NEF (Nikon's raw format) for Nikon D70, Nikon D2X, Nikon D100 and other models
(more info here)
- preliminary support for CR2 (new Canon's raw format) targeting Canon EOS 20D
(more info here)
- fixed display of some unknown fields in the info pane: wrong values were presented
- color temperature field decoding in Canon's MakerNote added (thanks to Richard)
- more fields are decoded (info pane); for instance CFAPattern (layout of camera's image sensor color array filter)
Build 156 (February 28, 2005)
CRW reading is back.
Build 155 (February 27, 2005)
This is the initial release.
